The building of the panorama was built in Sevastopol on Historical Boulevard (1902-1904) after the project of the military engineer F.-O.I.Enberg (1859-1937) with a participation of the painter architect V.A.Feldman (1864-1928). The building has a classical portal and is faced with Inkerman stone. There is risolit with 2 ornamental ledges on the corners. Pilasters - counterforts, divide the exterior walls of the round building. Between the pilasters 13 portraits of the defence heroes in sculpture were placed in August 1904. The dome roof crowns the building.

Yakovlev Vasiliy Nikolaevich (1893-1953), Moscow. He was the painter, People’s painter of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (1943), Full Member of Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947), professor. He learned in V.N.Meshkov’s school (1913), Moscow college of painting, sculpture and architecture where V.A.Korovin and N.A.Kassatkin (1914-1917) taught him.

He worked as a painter-restorer in the Central State Restoration workshop as the head of the Restoration workshop in the Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S.Pushkin. He was an expert of battle and subject paintings, portraits. He was the author of more than 1000 works of art.

Sokolov-Skalya Pavel Petrovich (1899-1961) was born in Petersburg province. He was the artist, battle painter, and graphic artist. He attended I.I.Mashkov’s school (1914-1918), State higher art technical workshops. He taught in School of Military artists named after M.Grekov (1933-1941). He was an art director of “Windows of TASS” where he was in charge of issuing posters on the topic of World War ΙΙ. Sokolov-Skalya was Full Member of Academy of Arts of the USSR, professor (1949).

He was the author of new episodes on the pictorial canvas of the panorama such as “N.I.Pirogov’s arrival to the first-aid station”, “Return of the sailors P.Koshka and F.Zaika to the bastion”, “Children near the mortar”, etc. He was a lecturer in Moscow Art Institute named after V.I.Surikov (1953-1960).
